The short list contains Forefathers, King's Causeway and Kalasam, and the vote goes to Forefathers. A $680,000 son of Gone West, Forefathers has to be of plenty of interest here. Hadahoo's debut Newmarket fourth makes him a major player. Jawaab failed to build on his debut promise at Epsom last time, but Kalasam could be interesting on his debut for William Muir. Both of King's Causeway's runs have suggested that he can win a race of this nature, while Nightinshining improved from his debut to be just beaten at Lingfield and, if replicating that on Turf, is entitled to respect. Finally, the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Spume and Ed Dunlop's Wind Flow, who showed promise on his debut after running green, should be watched in the betting. Once again, though, we will side with Forefathers.
