Verdict

Roger Thorpe necessitates a market check on return from a lengthy absence but Valley Of Rocks rates a far sounder proposition after a couple of fair runs here the last twice. However, he is far from bombproof and SHEARIAN is taken as a value alternative. He rattled up a Fibresand hat-trick during the winter campaign but has not backed that up since. Nevertheless, there is a piece of form in April when fourth to Billy Roberts that confirms he retains ability and a repeat of that level would see him involved in a moderate contest over a trip to suit. Salt Whistle Boy is a possible improver and Tony Carroll's Irish import from Henry De Bromhead - Windsorlot - completes the shortlist after a fair effort latest.
