RE BAROLO looks to have been found a decent chance to grab a listed prize here at the main expense of Shampagne and Without A Prayer. Marco Botti's consistent six-year-old ran well in similar company over at Dundalk last time and has plenty of solid form to call upon, including when giving plenty of weight and a beating to today's rival Plum Pudding last year. The selection hasn't won since the spring but has rarely run badly and is arguably more at home on the all-weather and if the horse copes with today's drop back to a mile then it can return to the winners' enclosure. Shampagne was highly-tried as a two-year-old and his last win came in a decent juvenile race at Great Leighs last September. Paul Cole's colt has arguably been unfortunate not to add to his tally in this second season having come close to winning on several occasions but with an impressive sixty percent strike rate on artificial surfaces connections will be hopeful they've found the right race for their son of Orpen today and the colt does rate a serious danger to our selection. Without A Prayer has been found wanting in group company the last twice but Ralph Beckett's colt was an impressive winner at Windsor when last contesting a listed race and is a serious player despite having to give weight away to all of his rivals. The four-year-old is another who is possibly slightly better on the all-weather and with today's trip of a mile seemingly ideal Jim Crowley's mount must surely have a chance. Sarah Park is interesting as a relatively lightly-raced filly who receives weight from all bar one of her rivals although today's race is probably as good as she has contested and she'll need to improve whilst Plum Pudding ran as well as could have been expected last time but has a fair bit to find with our selection. Dunelight would have a real chance if fitness was assured but the six-year-old has been off the track for over a year. Re Barolo can give Marco Botti another decent all-weather prize in this cracking contest.
