Capestar finished best of a poor bunch of maidens behind the useful Soldier's Tale at York last time and looks worth taking on which we do with Pre Eminance, who is preferred to Hunter's Valley and Powerful Parrish. The last mentioned represents the stable of Paul Cole and is entitled to improve on two runs as a juvenile, the latest of them in a Group 3 race in Italy. She makes more appeal than Richard Hannon's Hunter's Valley, who is more exposed than some of these. Similar comments apply to Henry Candy's Zwadi and of more interest may be Mick Channon's once raced Shaaban and Roger Charlton's Tumbaga, neither of whom have lived up to expectations so far. The vote though goes to Pre Eminance. A rare runner on the flat for Charlie Egerton, the son of Peintre Celebre showed distinct signs of promise on his Newmarket debut last November and, with plenty of improvement to come, he looks worth a bet.
