Just the seven runners are due to line up for this maiden but it looks a virtual match between Awesome Love and Marbush with preference for the latter. The Michael Jarvis-trained colt was favourite for the Wood Ditton on his debut and lost no caste in defeat when fourth behind United Nations. The form of the race has taken a few knocks since and the son of Linamix was himself subsequently beaten by Aqualung at Ripon. However, that form still looks to be better than that shown by Awesome Love. Mark Johnston's colt can be expected to step up on his reappearance third behind Peter Paul Rubens at Ascot but even if doing so may not be good enough to beat the selection. Menai Straights from the in-form Roger Fisher yard and the lightly raced Caymans Gift make most appeal of the remainder but Marbush holds an obvious chance and gets the vote to finally open his account.
