The newcomers face a stiff task against those with experience here and the vote goes to Beaver Patrol, who is preferred to Umniya and Doctor Hilary. The last mentioned won in workmanlike fashion at Ayr last week and is likely to find this a lot tougher judged by that effort. Mick Channon's Umniya receives plenty of weight from the selection and has to be respected but this represents a step up in class for the daughter of Bluebird and preference is for Beaver Patrol. Fulke Johnson Houghton's colt has done little wrong since making a winning debut at Windsor in April, not getting the run of the race at Chester and then finding just the useful Blue Dakota too good back at Windsor. A reproduction of that effort may suffice on his first start over six furlongs. Trainer Ian Wood has a good line to Umniya for Im Spartacus through Justaquestion but his representative is likely to be playing for place prize-money only judged by previous form. Andrew Balding's Banknote is a well bred son of Zafonic but most of the yards two-year-olds need their first run and a bigger threat among the newcomers may come from Neville Callaghan's Robellino filly Bibi Helen who gets all the allowances going. However, Beaver Patrol sets a decent standard and should be tough to beat.
