Verdict

Josiah Bartlett, an Ian Williams inmate, won a Lingfield handicap in February, over this trip and from the same mark as today. He cannot be totally ruled out of this, although he has the worst of the draw, and we prefer the claims of REBEL WOMAN. Jamie Osbourne's filly has a much better pitch in stall 12 and has been raised 3lbs to a mark of 55 for today's contest, after going close in a classified race here last time. In context, the form of that race should stand up well enough here and given that we know trip and track suit we will go with her. Art Market got the favourite's listing in the pre-race forecasts and he has recorded some very solid performances of late without winning. His career tally of one success from 28 attempts does not breed confidence and we think he is vulnerable enough to oppose. Phluke has been much better than this in the past, and could still be dangerous from this mark. However, although his record shows a course and distance win it also shows that he is much better over 7f, and we will oppose. Monashee Rock is now on an attractive enough mark considering that she twice won from higher pitches in 2008, and she has been in decent form just lately. She is much respected. Brooksby has been unable to add to a course and distance success recorded 11 months ago but she too has been consistent enough in defeat since and would not be winning out of turn, though preference is for Rebel Woman.
