Verdict
ELNAWIN has a solid record on his seasonal reappearances and is selected here ahead of the progressive Tiddliwinks and Prohibit back from his holiday in Dubai. Richard Hannon traditionally starts the season with a bang and this colt looks a horse to follow this year. This looks a good starting point for the horse who has a first and second from two runs on the all-weather and this course and distance winner can repeat his win of September 2008. Indian Skipper has plenty to find on official ratings (20lbs) but with prize money for all of the runners at least he is guaranteed his B.F.H. A more obvious threat is Prohibit who connections splashed out £85,000 on in October. He has run with credit in Dubai since (clawing back £5,000 prizemoney back in the process) and this talented son of Oasis Dream looks a danger. Son Of The Cat is a solid front-runner and may find this small field playing to his strengths with Jim Crowley a good jockey booking, whilst Wavertree Princess is rated 45 and is here for a day out. Tiddliwinks has risen from being rated 70 in November to being rated 103 now after a Wolverhampton win last time out. He is unbeaten at this venue and there is no telling how high this son of Piccolo could go, although this looks the acid test. An interesting beginning to the card, with the vote going to Elnawin.
