In depth

Verdict

Blue Sky Basin gets the nod in the finale, while Street Star and My Mentor are others to keep on the backburner. My Mentor successfully dropped back in trip last time out and obviously has the heart for a battle. However, quite whether he has sufficient speed to cope with a truly run race is debatable and he looks vulnerable here. Street Star showed plenty of promise last season but has taken a while to warm to the task this time around. Still, she made a really encouraging first appearance on an artificial surface last time out and, with that experience to draw from; the daughter of Street Cry could be a tough opponent to crack tonight. However, Blue Sky Basin won in a decisive manner at Newbury last month and, as he has also been victorious at this course in the past, the Andrew Balding-trained three-year-old should not be deserted now that he has rediscovered his level.
