Verdict

Not easy to discount any of the quintet and BUSHVELD gets the very tentative nod over Doncosaque and Blaise Tower. Mark Johnston's team have had a fair run on the artificial surfaces of late and Bushveld, who had been bogged down on the turf on his first two starts, proved that form to be all wrong at Wolverhampton. If he can act going this way around, he could be anything. Doncosaque has to give weight all around. He was well backed at Lingfield last time out and will need to improve upon his previous effort at this course. Blaise Tower shouldn't be troubled by a step up in trip if his breeding is anything to go by. The handicapper couldn't really go to work on him after he scraped home at this track over a mile. Barwell Bridge squandered an obvious opportunity at Wolverhampton and he faces a much sterner examination here. Supernoverre is a previous course-and-distance winner and his rider seems to be very much in form at the moment. The race of the day and BUSHVELD looks to be the best.
