Verdict

RED YARN has shown enough to take a race of this nature and is preferred to Great Intrigue and Ginger Grey. Gary Moore's Lucky Story filly has shaped well in three maidens this winter. A mark of 67 looks about right and with George Baker taking over in the saddle a bold bid is expected. Also making his handicap debut today is Great Intrigue. He hasn't been seen since finishing fifth in a fair Newmarket maiden but is probably capable of more than we have seen. Ginger Grey has fitness on his side; he won nicely at Lingfield last time out and may be a different proposition having now got his head in-front. Volatilis put in a better performance at Lingfield last time out but he may need to drop another couple of pounds, whilst Layla's Lad completes the field. David Simcock's colt goes without the blinkers sported last time out and the worry would have to be that he isn't straightforward. An open finale, where Red Yarn is selected.
