It will be interesting to see if Iguacu turns out again having been engaged to run on Monday but preference instead is for ROYAL SOCIETY who can get the better of Barodine. Our selection scored cosily last time over slightly shorter at Wolverhampton but should be suited by this longer trip and can go in under a penalty before the handicapper has a chance to reassess. Plenty went against the three-year-old gelding that day and so he did well to score and with the extra distance sure to suit he is a solid pick in a race where few horses arrive in form. Without the benefit of reviewing Iguacu's run on Monday he is hard to assess but would be of interest if winning there and turning out again here and it may pay to keep a close eye on that one's fortunes for a yard returning to form. Barodine is therefore rated the main danger to the likely favourite despite having disappointed last time. That was the gelding's first outing after a break and if he settles better over this shorter trip then he must have a chance off a mark of 54 with George Baker returning to the plate. Imperium is another worth noting despite not having the most inspiring form figures, this horse should be suited by stepping back up to 1m4f and could take a hand in the finish, as might Mixing who likes it here and has won off higher marks in the past but has serious questions to answer with regard to current wellbeing. A host of moderate performers on display but the one who looks most likely to progress is Royal Society and as such he is our selection.
