Had it not been for his exploits on Sunday MR PLOD wouldn't have leapt off the page here but as it is he's selected confidently from Kames Park and Sovento. Michael Scudamore's gelding scored at the weekend without breaking sweat off a mark of 50 and if repeating that effort here under a 6lb penalty should surely take care of a modest bunch. The horse had been in good form over jumps prior to his successful foray into the flat game and with fitness and form assured and the manner of Sunday's success fresh in the memory he rates one of the best bets on the card here at Kempton. Kames Park might be next best having returned to form of late. Whilst no match for the in-form Shadow's Lengthen last time that form has been franked and the handicapper has been kind in dropping the horse down a couple of pounds to 54, a mark from which he should be competitive. Connections of Sovento have booked Hayley Turner for the ride and whilst not looking a glaringly obvious player that alone marks the horse out as one to watch closely in the betting and provided the market makes positive noises it's easy to envisage this one taking a hand in the finish. Very Distinguished is in good form but is going up the weights despite remaining a maiden and of more interest may be handicap newcomer Spring Fashion who hasn't shown much so far but starts life off a lowly rating and again needs a market check. Mr Plod stands out in this company and should follow up under a penalty.
