A poor maiden that will take little winning and one that can go to IPSWICH LAD ahead of Red Courtier and Cast Of Stars. Andrew Balding has his string in fine form and so any concerns about his colt having not been seen out since the start of October are overlooked and that close-up third over a mile here looks the best form on offer. That day the colt just lacked the pace to go with them as the tempo quickened before staying on to strong effect late on, suggesting that today's extra two furlongs should bring about further improvement, and he rates a confident choice in a very average contest. Red Courtier improved upon his modest debut when third at Wolverhampton last time. Whilst that effort offered promise the horse was a little keen and racing over a furlong further today will surely need to settle better under Greg Fairley. Cast Of Stars was well supported before his second start but the gelding could only manage a well-held fifth having helped force the pace. Conditions were pretty testing at Goodwood that day though and perhaps this one can draw some improvement from taking to the all-weather and being ridden with a little more restraint. Kyoatee Kilt looks Paul Cole's second string here but must be considered as the second highest rated of those with an official mark. Stepping up to 1m2f for the first time today maybe the colt can improve but he'll need to; that rating is still fully a stone behind that of our selection Ipswich Lad who should be good enough to land this.
