In depth

Verdict

A wide open bumper rounds off the card and as usual in these events the market will be all impotant but the principals look to be Dragon Eye, Mister Pan and Withiel Lad and the narrow vote is given to Dragon Eye. The selection is a well bred Saddlers' Hall gelding, and half-brother to winners up to 2m over jumps. He hails from a yard that does well in this sphere and he will not have to be anything special to take a hand in the finish. Mister Pan rates the main danger as he was well backed on his debut when only fifth behind Cast In Iron. He looks sure to improve and is clearly thought capable of better so should be noted in the market. Withiel Lad is another from a yard that does well in this sphere but this Thowra gelding, half-brother to winning sprinters Lasham & Arnbi Dancer may struggle to get home on this ground. Of the remainder, Blue Eyed Eloise showed a modicum of ability on his debut and is another that could improve but in a race where the market may well tell all, for the winner we return to Dragon Eye.
