Calliope made a bold bid to follow up an earlier Perth victory nine days ago and is 3lb lower here so heads the shortlist. Chosen Flame also won at Perth last month but couldn’t cope with a 6lb rise on a return visit. Major Snugfit has yet to impress over timber but did recently win a seller on the Flat. This will be the fastest ground that CHINWAG has so far encountered and he hasn’t raced since March but the gelding was making giant strides in the spring and could be capable of holding his own in better company.
