In depth

Verdict

In what is a very moderate race, look out for an improved run from We'll Make It. This Gary Moore-trained gelding has previously shown plenty of talent over hurdles, but is dropped down in grade after finishing second in a Class D race at Sandown recently. He was well-beaten at Cheltenham last time, but he may appreciate this longer trip. Supremely Red is an ex-Martin Pipe inmate who is relatively unexposed compared to several of these rivals. He won well at Newton Abbot in June, but looked like he needed his run on his reappearance last time. Mazzini won convincingly last time out at Fontwell and his has been going well. His stablemates have been in good form recently, so although being the veteran of the field he has a strong each-way chance. Beat The Retreat improved over hurdles last season, but hitting the obstacles has cost him dearly in this campaign. The 82-day lay-off will have freshened him up and a market move would be significant for this Alan King-trained gelding's chances. The top-weight March North won here 14 months ago over two miles, but has been off the boil so far in this campaign. While Colonial Rule did well at Warwick last time out and looks the best of the remainder.
