It could be worth giving THAI VANGO another chance despite his Carlisle blip last month where the bottomless ground at that venue appeared to find him out. College Ace with first time check-pieces on looks one of the main dangers despite his uninspiring recent form lines while By George, a chasing debutant from the Nick Gifford yard would be of real interest if attracting market support. Thai Vango, a soft ground Irish point-to-point winner was awarded his chasing mark on the basis of what he had achieved over hurdles which to be honest was precious little. In his favour is the fact he is more of a chasing type than a hurdler and for one so inexperienced, he jumped well on his first attempt at regulation fences at Carlisle. While he obviously has had his problems, he could well have still been in need of that second run following 19 months off at Carlisle and today will tell much more. Renee Robeson does particularly well with her small string and her contender College Ace is 13lb lower than his last winning mark, that victory been achieved here almost two years ago when trained by Philip Hobbs. He attracted some interest in the market on his first start for five months last time and in a weak looking affair he is a player if check-pieces have the desired effect. By George has a similar profile to Thai Vango in that he has also been awarded a chasing mark based on his hurdling form. He had been noted staying on from unpromising positions in novice hurdles throughout last winter. One suspects we have not seen what he is truly capable of and the market should be a good indicator of what is expected from a yard who are beginning to hit top form. The first time blinkered King Coal has shown little on his last two starts but is well handicapped on the best of his form. His front running style is suited to a venue like Huntingdon. Superrollercoaster has proved in the past that he is another that goes well fresh but it is possibly the ground may not be soft enough for him. Thai Vango is selected to win this handicap chase for the inform yard of Nigel Twiston-Davies.
