Don McCain's OUR JIM lost no caste in defeat behind Petroupetrov at Uttoxeter last week when narrowly beaten and he can go one better today off a 3lb higher mark with the main dangers rated as Chernik and Harry Flashman. The last mentioned was good value for his win over course and distance earlier this month and he has every chance of following up that success but has gone up 6lbs and may have to settle for minor honours today. Phil Kirby's Simply Smashing has disappointed in two starts since winning here in March so looks best watched and of more interest may be Nile Moon, who has been running consistently well but keeps finding at least one too good. Michael Scudamore's Von Galen has been given a chance by the handicapper and is another to consider although more solid claims are held by Micky Hammond's Chernik, who has done little wrong of late and should be thereabouts again. Our Jim ran really well at Uttoxeter last time though and he can go one better today.
