Verdict

MAMA LULU looks capable of defying her wide draw to land this contest ahead of Zabeel Park and Princess Izzy. Michael Bell's filly is the first foal of a Group Three winner and ran as though inheriting plenty of that ability when second on her debut at Doncaster. Prior to that her trainer had spoken highly of this daughter of Kingmambo and she was backed accordingly, into a warm favourite. Having shown pace throughout only to give best late on this drop back to a stiff six will surely prove no problem and she's expected to recoup losses for followers by beating Zabeel Park. Saeed Bin Suroor's charge was no match for Royal Ascot bound Hooray on her debut but the winner stopped the clock in an impressive time, so she deserves credit for setting the fractions and as a half-sister to dual English and Irish Guineas winner Finsceal Beo the climb to the line should see her improve. Princess Izzy was sent off 66/1 ahead of her debut at Leicester but was beaten less than seven lengths by Crying Lightening, who is set to take on Hooray at Royal Ascot, so keep an aye on Albany Stakes on Friday. The Mark Tompkins trained filly steps up a furlong in trip and is bred to appreciate it whilst Kieren Fallon's booking also catches the eye. Kaifi was slowly into stride and always behind in an average looking Lingfield maiden on debut but it has produced a couple of moderate looking winners and she can only improve for that outing. Similarly Royal Hush should do better whilst I Got You Babe is a half-sister to several winners including admirable sprinter Colorus and could run well on debut from a good draw; she's the yard's first juvenile runner this term and the market will tell us what's expected. Mark Brisbourne has trained one juvenile winner from 14 runners so Princess Gail also needs a check but it'll take a smart performance to lower the colours of Mama Lulu.
