In depth

Verdict

Gone Too Far has been knocking on the door and can come good at the expense of Lik Wood Power and Ceresfield. The last two named are both Richard Guest inmates in fact and make a bit more appeal than stablemate Bernadon who disappointed when pulled up last time However, the one to be on could be Gone Too Far, beaten narrowly by Mindanao here 11 days ago. Time may tell that he had a job on conceding weight that day, and he should make a bold bid to make amends. Not disgraced when second to Jodante at Kelso earlier on what was his chase debut, Peter Monteith's charge has plenty going for him here and has most to fear from Lik Wood Power. He has already scored twice over fences but never looked like completing the hat-trick when soundly beaten at Worcester. Maybe the handicapper has got to grips with him quickly but surely he will run a bit better this time. For the winner though, the progressive Gone Too Far fits the bill.
