started slowly and behind, ridden along over 3f out, never troubled leaders
tracked leader, led over 2f out, driven over 1f out and kept on final furlong
led steady pace, quickened over 3f out, headed over 2f out, weakened approaching final furlong
held up, ridden along and headway 2f out, kept on same pace final furlong
Meshtri showed enough on his debut to make him the one to beat here and he is nominated to get the better of Nemo Spirit and Montfjord. The selection chased home Downhiller on his racecourse bow at Leicester when he shaped as though he would come on for the experience. He will handle the cut in the ground and he sets the benchmark for the others. Nemo Spirit wasn't beaten far behind Trianon last time and he certainly looks to be going the right way. If he progresses again then he should be capable of getting competitive. Montfjord has ability but this 3-year-old colt is far from straightforward and the yard will have to iron out some of his quirks before he carries our money. Mazara is another with a bit to prove, and Meshtri does stand out as the most solid bet.
