Verdict

Universal Effect makes her handicap debut after a narrow defeat at Wolverhampton. She was beaten a long way on soft going when making her debut here but has obviously improved. DARK DEVIL is on a long losing run but usually goes well on soft ground and has dropped to a winnable mark with his rider's claim a plus. He gets the vote as Motahassen couldn't quite repeat his victory on heavy ground here when strongly fancied at Carlisle. Corncrake makes his handicap debut but his form is moderate and he's never raced on soft going
