Verdict
KALMO BAY can take advantage of the drying conditions but he faces a stern examination from Adare Prince and Go West. The selection reportedly broke a blood vessel at Musselburgh last month but there clearly have been no ills since and having won at that course previously on good ground, we hope he can regain the winning thread. Adare Prince will be popular with Tony McCoy booked. He was pulled up on bottomless going at Taunton last month but has tended to put up his better performances at this time of year. It's been a big week for the Hobbs stable and they could add to earlier success. Go West won a handicap chase at Southwell last summer. His yard had a winner earlier in the week so he cannot be discounted. Shrewd Investor has not been able to translate hurdling promise to chasing glory. Twilight Eagle was well punted at Southwell though punters knew their fate at an early juncture. Phil Kinsella is aboard Star Beat this afternoon. The rider had won on him at Wetherby over hurdles before the trainer's son got the leg up. The well-bred Glenary has one or two questions to answer. Sea Cadet ran creditably at Leicester though is appearing increasingly exposed. Kalmo Bay is the call.
