MALAKIYA likes plenty of cut in the ground and gets the vote here ahead of Signalman, Sand Repeal and Kalasam. The selection was last seen in a handicap chase last month, but Jonjo O'Neill's runner has bags of stamina, comes from a yard going well at the moment, and judged on his chasing mark he is probably capable of a little bit more improvement back on the flat so we'll chance him. Signalman is in good form after two bridesmaids berths at Ayr. Soft ground suits, though Peter Monteith's gelding needs a career best to add a win to his CV. Sand Repeal is not easy to win with but did enjoy back-to-back successes until coming unstuck on soft ground at Goodwood last time, and both the going and his current mark mean we will oppose today. Kalasam might find this ground a bit too testing, and the same can be said of Diktatorship, and Historic Place may be a better proposition and could take home some more prize money after a decent effort at Bath last time. Not a race to get heavily involved in and Malakiya is a tentative suggestion.
