Lahberhorn opened his account in a minor maiden event at Ripon, but was well beaten on his handicap bow at Doncaster and may need to come down the ratings to score again. Hard Lines was successful at Ripon and Newcastle on the flat at around this time last year and then won over hurdles, but has not run since January. Guarded Secret was successful on sand during the winter, but has a lot of weight here. East Cape was runner-up in his first two races this year before winning at Pontefract and has not been disgraced since then. Luxor, a maiden winner at Newmarket as a three-year-old for H Cecil, registered his first victory since then when making all at 20-1 at Chester last month, but he needs to dictate otherwise he sulks and has been beaten twice since then. Pension Fund won at Chester and York last term and is now 6lbs lower after a series of below-par efforts. If he were to recapture anything like his best form, he would be a major threat to them all.
