In depth

Verdict

John Gosden sets backers a poser by saddling three runners here with Radiant Energy looking the pick on form of his trio but this may go to one of the newcomers and a chance is taken with Virtus, who gets the nod over another debutante Campanini. The last mentioned, a son of Singspiel, could be interesting on his debut although there is a concern about the current well-being of Mick Channon's runners. There is no problem on that score with horses from the stable of James Fanshawe though and Virtus, who is a Machiavellian half-brother to several winners, is sure to know enough on his debut to take a hand. Those with racing experience have to be respected but Radiant Energy and Amamus face very different going to when making their debuts and are not certain to appreciate it, while Ela's Wish needs to improve to figure.
