Hammiya can bounce back from a disappointing Oaks run and land a very good renewal of the Lancashire Oaks, with Santa Sophia and Time Ahead representing her biggest dangers. Marcus Tregoning's filly preceded Epsom effort with an impressive win in the Cheshire Oaks, although the form of that race has taken a couple of knocks since. The Tregoning stable has also suffered one or two reverses in recent days, but we'll take a chance that all is ok with the daughter of Darshaan. Place Rouge was formerly with Ellie Lellouche, for whom she won at Listed level on heavy in France. Now with John Gosden, she will be trying 12 furlongs for the first time. The trainer also runs Treble Heights, who is owned by footballer Michael Owen, who ran her best race when second in last year's Park Hill Stakes. She stays well but may just need this first run of the season. Distant Music's half-sister New Orchid has a progressive profile but this is a big step up from her Newcastle maiden win. Rich Affair is not one of Sir Michael Stoute's leading lights but the John Dunlop pair, Santa Sophia and Time Ahead, will quite rightly have their supporters. The former won the Lingfield Oaks Trial before finishing ahead of the selection when seventh in the Oaks itself. However, on jockey bookings, Time Ahead looks the stable first string. She finished second in the French Oaks last time, which makes her a leading player here. However, despite her dam being related to an Oaks winner, on breeding she is not certain to relish 12 furlongs. That said, she clearly represents a danger to Hammiya, but Marcus Tregoning's filly remains the selection.
