The shortlist contains Giganticus, Spearit and Erytheis, with the vote going to Giganticus. The form of Giganticus's debut sixth behind the likes of Gin Jockey and Kilworth at Newmarket has got a pretty solid ring to it and, with improvement likely from that run, he looks set to go well here. Spearit's debut third to Johannes at York marks him down as a likely type too, and add to the list the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Erytheis, who was a highly promising second at Newbury on her debut. Felin Gruvy, who was second to Cantabria on her debut, has also to be considered, while Richard Hannon's 75,000 guineas purchase, Bon Viveur, Howard Johnson's 54,000 guineas buy, Maison Dieu, plus Hot Agnes and Politkovskaya, a half-sister to the very useful Splice, are all interesting newcomers. Overall, though, we are happy to side with Giganticus.
