DUBAI POET takes a massive drop in class after finishing runner-up in the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes where he led until the final furlong. He should have few problems adding to his sole success at Newbury last September. Saleymm, runner-up to today's rival Johan in the Lincoln back in March when conceding 5lb and a winner at York in July, has been well beaten in major handicaps the last twice while the Doncaster winner has been waiting for easier ground. Allayaali had some very smart juvenile form and caught the eye on her belated reappearance at the Goodwood Festival while seven-times winner Snazzy Jazzy can never be dismissed though has a bit to find under the race conditions.
Saleymm (IRE) 9-1 (9-6) Always towards rear, last of 17, 16 1/2l behind Summerghand (9-0) at York 6f hcp (2) gf in Aug.
Dubai Poet 6-1 (9-2) Prominent, pushed along before 2f out disputing lead, ridden along and disputing lead 1f out, kept on well close home without troubling winner, 2nd of 9, 1 3/4l behind Jumby (9-8) at Newbury 7f Grp 2 stks (1) gf in Aug.
Allayaali (IRE) 25-1 (8-12) Slowly away, held up in rear, pushed along over 2f out, plugged on one pace final furlong, never dangerous, 9th of 15, 6 1/4l behind Oscula (8-12) at Goodwood 7f Grp 3 fll stks (1) gf in Jul.
Johan 12-1 (9-1) Tracked leader, ridden and lost 2nd over 1f out, weakened final furlong, last of 6, 5 3/4l behind Lights On (8-12) at Sandown 1m Grp 2 (1) gd in Apr.
Snazzy Jazzy (IRE) 9-4fav (9-13) Slowly away, held up in rear, ridden over 2f out, headway over 1f out, no extra inside final furlong, 6th of 10, 2 3/4l behind Rathbone (9-6) at Hamilton 6f hcp (2) gf in Jul.
