Mr Rainbow looks up against it on today's terms and both trip and going could prove problematic for Doncaster Rover. Last year's soft ground Lincoln winner Penitent and Listed race winner Field Of Dream are hard to catch right and have yet to win this season. The latter was well behind SECRECY at Salisbury last month when the Godolphin gelding finished fourth and Saeed Bin Suroor's charge had earlier won a similar event to this at Doncaster. He handles soft ground and gets the vote as he looks the one most likely to run his race.
Secrecy 14-1 (9-0) Held up in 7th on rail, headway over 2f out, ridden and disputing 3rd over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong, never quite going pace to challenge, 4th of 11, 2l behind Side Glance (9-0) at Salisbury 1m Grp 3 (1) gf in Aug.
Field Of Dream 4-1 (8-12) In rear, ridden and headway over 1f out, kept on to take 3rd final 100 yards, 3rd of 8, 2 1/4l behind Firebeam (8-11) at Haydock 7f cond Stakes (3) gs.
Penitent 2-1 (8-11) Led, ridden over 2f out, headed and not pace of winner inside final 2f, soon no chance, weakened to 3rd inside final furlong, 3rd of 5, 5l behind Dubai Prince (8-6) at Newbury 1m 1f cond Stakes (3) gs.
Doncaster Rover (USA) 33-1 (9-3) Outpaced and always towards rear, 11th of 16, 8l behind Dream Ahead (9-1) at Haydock 6f Grp 1 (1) gf.
Mr Rainbow 6-1 (9-4) Held up mid-division, headway 2f out, kept on to take 3rd inside final furlong, 3rd of 12, 5l behind Xilerator (9-4) at Ayr 7f hcp 0-95 (3) sft.
