Golden Island, Read Federica and Mintlaw look to be the leading players in this wide open event and the vote is given to the Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly Read Federica. The selection has only had two runs and she won on her debut at Newmarket before finishing down the field in the Group 3 Nell Gwyn stakes on the same track. Karens Caper won that and there is nothing of that quality in opposition tonight and we are happy to put her forward as the selection with the step-up in trip also sure to suit. Nicky Mackay is another plus in the saddle as he has got a good record for Sir Michael Stoute. Golden Island was a fair third on his seasonal reappearance at Pontefract behind Red Bloom and although she is entitled to go well here she does not look to have as much scope for progression as our selection. Mintlaw will be interesting if she sees out this trip as she won well when last seen out and remains unexposed. However, she has more on her plate tonight and we are happy to pass her over. Little Miss Gracie is a fair sort and is another with place prospects, but Read Federica is put forward as the confident selection.
