Verdict

The step up in trip may help Without A Trace to lose her maiden tag, with Barbirolli and Looks The Business the other main players. This is an uninspiring contest, and Ed Dunlop could have found the right opportunity for Without A Trace, with the step up in distance to help her cause. The daughter of Darshaan has been crying out for a longer trip since making her debut in April, and the way that she stayed on in the soft ground at Ripon last time suggests that she should be a major player here. She now qualifies for handicaps as well, so should be noted if connections go that route. Barbirolli ran well on his handicap debut when third at Chester and will be a threat back in this maiden, while Looks The Business will improve for his return at Brighton where he was second in a claimer. The ground was much faster there though, and in addition he and the rest have to give weight away to the filly Without a Trace who has the most scope.
