Another tough race for punters on what is a very competitive card and we will tentatively suggest CAPE EXPRESS to be too good for Ladies Best and Lady Jane Digby. The Michael Jarvis-trained selection has already won twice over this trip from just four racecourse outings and again went well when pitched into a similar contest to this over 11f at Kempton last time. The return to 1m 4f will be a plus, the yard remains in decent nick, and there should be no problem with the ground for this, his first try on turf. Mark Johnston saddles two here, and while the handicapper appears to have Drill Sergeant for the time being, the same cannot be said of Lady Jane Digby. She has been placed to win a couple of 10f Polytrack handicaps at Lingfield this year and with stamina on the dam's side she may well get home over a trip she tries for the first time. In spite of jockey bookings she remains very interesting. Ladies Best lowered the colours of hotpot Hawaass at Pontefract last month and then performed with credit in Epsom's City And Suburban Handicap. The negatives however, are her trainer's current form and whether she will get home over this far. Allied Powers comes from a stable just getting into gear and if at his best would be very competitive. He probably needed that first run, won't mind the ground and we should see better here. Amanda Carter might have a squeak of making the frame but we'll side with Cape Express.
