Barking Mad gets a tentative vote over Tomasino, with Alphecca, Scotty's Future and Tetragon not out of it either. This should be a close call between all of those mentioned, but preference is for Barking Mad who was a useful animal when trained by Michael Bell. He gained his first victory for Kevin Ryan in an amateur riders' claimer at Southwell in April, and has tried to make all on each of his last two outings at York and Doncaster. He only found one too good on the Knavesmire and a reproduction of that effort should see him go close in this company. Tomasino had been hurdling during the winter, but did not take long to make his mark back on the level when scoring in this company at Carlisle recently. He should be in the shake-up too along with Alphecca, a winner this time last year for Sir Michael Stoute, and who is used to humping bigger weights over hurdles. Scotty's Future was a beaten favourite at Redcar and will appreciate the step up in trip, as will Tetragon who goes well on this track. Overall though, it is Barking Mad who has the best claims and he is taken to make all.
