The return to this trip can play into the hands of CANDLE, who can burn off Boz and Shimoni to score. It's time to wax lyrical about Candle, who has largely been kept to 1m 4f, but whose pedigree and form beyond that trip suggests that she can be successful over this extra quarter-of-a-mile. One previous try over 14 furlongs at Haydock saw her finish runner up, and she is arguably therefore unexposed over this far and a chance is taken on her. Boz has already won over c&d and stamina is his forte. He'd need a career best to win from this mark, and he just looks to have a bit too much weight. Shimoni sank without trace on her one previous try at this trip and has only just about proved her stamina over 12 furlongs, so getting home here has to be a doubt. Tighnabruaich has to prove he stays this far and has look fully exposed on his last two starts, while Fregate Island does get the trip and can be very competitive from this mark, but we will side with Candle to light up this contest.
