Verdict

This is much less competitive than the Super Sprint contested by ASAINT NEEDS BRASS last time out and he can get back to winning ways from Athania. The selection has run only once before over this trip, when winning at Kempton in June. He was out of his depth in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, but was not far away at all in the big sprint last time and he is not top rated here for nothing, so we will side with him to get his nose back in front. Athania may emerge as the danger. Alan Jarvis' filly stepped up on her debut run when winning over 7f at Salisbury last time, but this drop back in trip should not inconvenience as she showed plenty of toe. If she handles the track and surface then she could show plenty more today. Ridgeway Silver is another Salisbury scorer, in her case over 6f, and she is in decent enough form but may not quite have the class of the selection. Windsor winner River Rye has found things tougher after that success in May and we prefer the claims of Asaint Needs Brass. (Jonathan Doidge)
