Riggins is a fascinating contender and is fancied to defy an absence and overcome the likes of Diamond Yas, Golden Desert and Big Noise. Riggins is a well bred Cape Cross colt who forged clear in the style of a serious performer to thrash the opposition in a Wolverhampton maiden in the spring of last year. He's presumably had a few problems but connections have been patient and clearly believe that he retains his ability if entries in the Cambridgeshire and the big Newbury handicap in September are anything to go by. He'll need to climb the weights if he's to have a chance of fulfilling those engagements and can make a start by winning this heat. Golden Desert was impressive last time but has a rise in the weights to cope with on his first attempt at this trip whilst Diamond Yas will probably need to find some improvement if she's to score here. Mesbaah finds winning difficult whilst Big Noise has failed to build on last year's promise although has been staying on fairly well the last twice and may need this trip now. A good heat, which may see the exciting Riggins maintain his unbeaten record.
