A competitive and valuable race but a few of these have questions to answer at present so we'll plump for Wise Melody who has less to prove than most. Onceaponatime and Messias Da Silva are two of the more interesting alternatives. Willie Haggas has enjoyed something of an annus mirabilis and Wise Melody is another potential money spinner having bounced back from a poor run at Newmarket's July meeting. She had beaten a progressive field of sprinters at Ripon in June and was back to somewhere near that form last time; she's taken to resume winning ways here. Victorian Bounty has lost his way but blinkers may help to set him back on the right road whilst the likes of Mister New York and Sparton Duke have to enter calculations but also of interest are two lightly raced sorts returning from breaks. Onceaponatime has been off since finishing lame at Windsor in June and makes his debut for a new yard here; he had beaten Carniolan by a neck in his maiden and the runner-up won a handicap from a mark of 86 last month. Messias Da Silva was an expensive purchase who showed plenty of promise in two runs at Lingfield before the wheels came off on her seasonal return at Haydock. She's been given plenty of time and may be suited by the return to racing on the all-weather. Interesting stuff, Wise Melody may be the answer.
