in touch early, outpaced before half way, soon beaten
with leader, led over 2f out, ridden and headed inside final furlong, not pace of winner
tracked leaders, always travelling well, led inside final furlong, ran on
slowly into stride, raced keenly in touch, lost place over 2f out
chased leaders, weakened half way
in rear, ridden over 2f out, soon no impression
led until over 2f out, soon weakened
reared start, behind, moderate headway approaching final furlong, no chance with leaders
Anne of Kiev ran two solid races last year as a two year old and can win on her seasonal reappearance at the expense of Royal Encore and Orchestrion. The selection finished an eye catching second of twelve at Lingfield on her last outing back in November. She may well have had a few set backs in training since then as she has taken her time returning to the track, but if she is fit and can recapture her best then she will prove difficult to beat. Royal Encore has run well in defeat in all her maidens to date without ever looking like winning. She will have fitness on her side and although she was slightly disappointing when a beaten odds on favourite last time out she can still be in the mix come the end of the race. Orchestrion is another to note after running well in second place behind Wallonia at Thirsk last time out. She has been consistent in all three of her races and is another to have on the short list. But for the winner we return to Anne of Kiev.
