Verdict
Johnny Bissett is taken to oblige at the principal expense of Lagavulin and Watch Out. An easy winner at Stratford, this followed a fair run at Newton Abbot and it seems clear that he has got the hang of the "winter" game on this evidence. Lagavulin is closely matched to our selection with Woolcombe Folly form. The trainer has struggled for winners of late and is bidding to break a maiden under both codes. Granted, Watch Out won what was only a selling hurdle. That said, he did it in fine style and connections were prepared to go to 7500 guineas. Canndar had form on fast ground in Ireland and cannot be ruled out given Tim Vaughan's current stable form. Amazing Request had a busy July without too much in the way of success. Covey has his first run for John O'Shea. Brendan Powell sent out the winner of this race last year so Caretta Caretta is respected. The better horses do look toward the top of the tree and Johnny Bissett appears the most progressive in the pack.
