In depth

Verdict

Brief Encounter ran a promising race on his debut at Sandown in July having run green early on and Andrew Balding's colt should have learned a lot from that performance but he faces no easy task against FLORENTIA, who gets the vote with Eagles Call looking the pick of the remainder. The selection stepped up on her debut effort when chasing home Red Kyte at Beverley last time on a soft surface and, with improvement to come for the switch to Polytrack, Sir Mark Prescott's speedily bred filly can open her account. Art Fund, from the in-form Gary Moore stable, looks the pick of the newcomers, while Fortune In Faith should improve for her Sandown debut run but she needs to. Peter Chapple-Hyam's Eagles Call has run well on both starts and should again be thereabouts but Florentia has solid claims and she is preferred.
