In depth

Verdict

Willie Mullins won this in 2007 and his representative here Red Tiger, a half-brother to winning bumper/hurdler Red Hot Poker, must be respected. Gran Torini showed the benefit of a hurdling debut with a good run in a Kilbeggan bumper but may do better when the ground eases. Quantum Theory improved when getting a stiffer test of stamina in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown when runner-up in a huge field to Cottage Oak. Elizabeth Doyle's charge is still progressing and must go close though it's VIKING VISITOR who gets the nod. The Lisronagh point-to-point winner made an excellent bumper debut when just outpaced by Fantasy King inside the final furlong at Punchestown after leading 5f out and will have come on for the run.
