Michelangelo took another step forward when winning the Tattersalls Millions conditions race at Newmarket last month. With more to come on only his fourth start, the St Leger entry can reverse earlier form with Noble Mission over this longer trip. The latter found stablemate Thomas Chippendale too good in the King Edward at Royal Ascot last time but had finished ahead of the returning Farhaan in a Listed event before that. It would be no surprise if John Dunlop's charge reverses running today, however, but the vote goes to German raider GIROLAMO. Peter Schiergen's colt was beaten less than a length in the German Derby earlier this month and the winner, Pastorius, franked the form by following up in another Group 1 event last Sunday. He looks the one to beat on that form with lightly-raced Sandown winner Encke making most appeal of the remaining trio.
