      Verdict

      This St Leger trial sees only Classic Lord currently entered at Doncaster. He's enjoyed a fine season but this first venture into Group company means more is required, although this trip will suit. Dancing King only went down by a short head to the progressive Yesyes at Listed level a week ago and Juan De Montalban ran a cracker in an Italian Group 2 but is hard to assess on a first run for his new yard and NAGANO is preferred. He has his first try at 1m6f and in Group company should stay and looks progressive after just five starts but this is a huge step up from White Pepper's Tramore maiden success last time.

      Juan De Montalban (IRE) 7-2 (9-1) 2nd of 14, 4l behind Tokyo Gold (9-1) at Capannelle 1m 3f Grp 2 gd in May.

      Nagano 4-1 (9-3) Held up well in rear, smooth headway on outside tracking leaders over 2f out, led inside final 2f, edged left inside final furlong, always doing enough, won at Goodwood 1m 4f hcp (2) sft in Jul beating Siskany (9-7) by 3/4l, 13 ran.

      White Pepper (IRE) 3-1 (9-2) Led briefly, soon headed and tracked leader in 2nd, strongly challenged leader over 1f out, led under 1f out, kept on well, asserted closing stages, won at Tramore 1m 4f mdn fll Yielding in Aug beating Little Bubbles (9-2) by 2 1/2l, 5 ran.
