The unexposed Lunar River is selected ahead of Friends Hope and Brief Statement, while Dawn's Last Shot is also worth a mention now that he has got the benefit of a couple of runs behind him this season. The last named does need to find improvement from somewhere after finding a lot less than expected at Nottingham when he was last seen out. The better ground will be a help and, as his trainer loves nothing more than a winner at Goodwood, this lightly raced individual is one to monitor closely in the betting. Brief Statement showed grim determination to score at Ayr in June and obviously has the ability to figure at this level. He too was a bit disappointing in his last outing and now has something to prove. Friends Hope is another with recent winning form and comes into the argument on the best of his form. Paul Blockley has his string firing on all cylinders at present and another bold bid can be expected from his representative. However, Lunar River has far more scope for improvement and, as she reverts to turf on a very fair mark, she looks the one to beat in this modest company.
