Verdict

Trueshan bids to repeat last year’s success having won the Northumberland Plate last month. But it was soft going last season when he beat Away He Goes and the ground is a worry for both. Stradivarius missed this last year on account of the going having won the four previous renewals and was partnered by Andrea Atzeni on a couple of those occasions. But he found KYPRIOS too good in the Ascot Gold Cup with Princess Zoe further behind and the Ballydoyle colt is taken to continue on his upward curve and come out best. Coltrane is another on the up having followed victory at Ascot with a Listed success at Sandown while stablemate Nate The Great placed at the same track in May when finishing in front of Thunderous and Enemy.
