A tough start for the punters here on the first day of the Glorious Goodwood meeting, and we have narrowed it down to Promotion, Evaluator, Masafi and Ofaraby and we will plump for the first named. Sir Michael Stoute's son of Saddler's Wells has contested three top handicaps this season, all on fast ground and hasn't been beaten far on each occasion. As a consequence his handicap mark hasn't gone down, however his best performances last season came on good ground so we may see some improvement on this better surface. Evaluator was a game winner at Newbury last time and there could be more to come. The booking of Keiren Fallon also catches the eye. Meanwhile Prolific winner Masafi cannot be discounted on the pick of last season's efforts. However the main threat to the selection may come from Ofaraby who came good at York last time. He humped ten stones to victory on that occasion and still looks on a fair mark here. All weather specialist Eccentric may do best of the others, but we expect improvement from Promotion and he gets our vote.
