Verdict
The task for Patkai has been reduced considerably in the absence of Alessandro Volta and he is nominated to land the key trial for the St Leger, the race have yielded four of the last seven winners of the final classic of the season. The easy winner of what looked only an average Queen Anne Stakes, his claims are mainly based on potential rather than what he has achieved. While stamina appears to be his strong-point, he does have plenty of pace also so the drop back should not overly inconvience him. Top Lock looks to be crying out for a step up in trip having been outpaced at a crucial stage in both the German Derby and the King Edward Stakes at Royal Ascot. He will not want a slow pace while Meydan City is an unexposed sort whos recent win is hard to evaluate as he beat an exposed 98-rated rival. Patkai is nominated to land it.
