Competitive stuff with plenty of improvers but Inverness makes plenty of appeal at the expense of Border Edge and Anna Walhaan. James Fanshawe's charge had few problems in posting a winning handicap debut at Newmarket after a promising reappearance in a Kempton maiden that has yielded plenty of winners. Border Edge hails from a relatively unfashionable stable but it would be rude to crab two victories in handicaps at Windsor and Bath. Today represents a step up in class and the market must be watched. Adobe finished infront of him at Bath and now is much better off at the weights if the apprentices' claims are taken into account. Anna Walhaan has done nothing this year and has run a couple of stormers in defeat. A third to Passing Glance at Epsom looks very decent form in the context of this contest and she had previously lowered a few colours when finishing fourth at 50/1 in a Class C race at the track in May. Finished Article would have a serious chance if back to his best. The mile at Goodwood suits but his recent form has been a let down. Mad Carew was in rude health on the all-weather a few months ago and is on a favourable turf mark. We though will stick with the in-form James Fanshawe team and suggest Inverness as the most likely winner.
